What breaks without a real shipping connection

Without fulfillment data wired to WhatsApp, customers ask where their order is, agents paste tracking links by hand, and a broken tracking URL can reach a customer before anyone notices.

  • Customers message asking for a tracking number that support has to look up manually
  • A tracking link gets typed with a typo and never resolves for the customer
  • An update goes out for a state Shopify never actually reported
  • A partially fulfilled order gets described to the customer as fully shipped

What the shipment record holds

One record per fulfillment, built only from what Shopify and the carrier report.

Fulfillment state
In transit, out for delivery, delivered or failed attempt, as Shopify's fulfillment-event data reports it.
Carrier name
Pulled from Shopify's fulfillment record, not typed by hand.
Tracking number and URL
Validated as a well-formed link before it goes into a message.
Shipped items
Which line items this fulfillment covers, for a partial shipment.
Last known state
Compared against the incoming event so a message only sends on a real state change.
Delivery attempt log
A failed delivery attempt, recorded whenever the carrier reports one.

What happens between a shipping event and the message

The same checks run on every fulfillment or fulfillment-event update from Shopify.

  1. Shopify sends the fulfillment event

A fulfillment is created or updated, or a fulfillment event reports a shipment state.

  2. Pull carrier and tracking data

Carrier name, tracking number and tracking URL come from Shopify's record, not entered by hand.

  3. Validate the tracking URL

A malformed or missing tracking URL is left out rather than sent broken.

  4. Compare to the last known state

If the state hasn't changed, nothing sends.

  5. Send the mapped template

In transit, out for delivery, delivered or failed attempt — each maps to its own approved template.

  6. Log the update

The state, timestamp and outcome are recorded on the order timeline.

What the customer sees, shipment by shipment

Three states, three messages — each sent only once the state actually changes.

What the team sees

The shipment's real state, carrier and tracking, without anyone re-typing it.

  • A shipment timeline per order, only advancing on a real state change
  • The carrier name and tracking link pulled straight from Shopify, never hand-typed
  • A failed-attempt flag that a support agent can act on
  • Which items shipped and which are still pending, for a partial fulfillment

What determines a send

A message only goes out when Shopify or the carrier reports a real change.

  • A workspace admin chooses which shipment states are enabled
  • A tracking URL that fails validation is held back rather than sent
  • The same fulfillment event never sends the same state twice
  • Partial-fulfillment messages name only the items that state covers

What this does not promise

Morasel does not invent a carrier state, an exact delivery time, or a location Shopify and the carrier haven't reported. Not every carrier or store exposes every event, so some states may simply not appear.

Shipping and tracking questions

Which shipment states trigger a message?

In transit, out for delivery, delivered and failed delivery attempt — whichever your workspace enables and the carrier actually reports.

Do you guarantee an exact delivery time?

No. Morasel reports what Shopify and the carrier report; it does not estimate or promise a delivery window beyond that data.

What if my carrier doesn't send every event?

Then that state simply doesn't appear. Not every carrier exposes in-transit or out-for-delivery data to Shopify.

Is the tracking link checked before sending?

Yes. A tracking URL is validated as a well-formed link before it goes into a customer message.

Does a partial shipment say the whole order shipped?

No. A partially fulfilled order names only the items covered by that fulfillment.

Do shipping updates cost per tracking event?

No — Morasel does not charge per tracking event. Shipping updates run on your Morasel subscription — Core $49, Pro $99, Max $199, Enterprise on request. WhatsApp usage is billed separately from a prepaid wallet at Meta's official rates.
