WhatsApp for Shopify, run as an operation

Connect your store, choose which order events send which approved template, and give your support team the order beside every conversation. Marketing goes only to customers who opted in.

The Shopify order journey on WhatsApp
Read the transcript

Discover: the product card arrives where the customer already is — WhatsApp.

Convert: cart and checkout links that open in one tap, with consent recorded.

Order: confirmation and payment status from Shopify, sent as approved templates.

Fulfil: shipping, tracking, pickup — each update only when the state changes.

Support: every question lands as a ticket, with the order beside the conversation.

Retain: back-in-stock, replenishment and campaigns, only to customers who opted in.

Feedback: one question after delivery; a low score becomes owned Care work.

What breaks without a real Shopify connection

Without Shopify wired into WhatsApp, someone copies order numbers into chat by hand, agents answer support questions with no order in front of them, recovery messages go out to people who never opted in, and stock questions get answered by guessing.

  • Order and shipping updates are typed manually, so some orders wait hours or get missed entirely
  • A support agent has to leave the conversation and open Shopify to look up the order
  • Checkout recovery messages go to customers who never gave WhatsApp marketing consent
  • Stock and availability answers come from memory instead of the catalog snapshot

What Morasel keeps for a Shopify store

Once a store is connected, Morasel keeps one record for it — the same vocabulary shared by every Shopify page.

Store connection
Which Shopify store is connected, its granted scopes, and when it was connected.
Customer record
Name, phone number, opt-in state and order history tied to one WhatsApp number.
Order record
Order number, status, payment and fulfillment state pulled from Shopify.
Notification rules
Which order events are enabled and which approved template each one maps to.
Catalog snapshot
Product, variant, price and availability data used to answer questions.
Conversation
Every message, template send and reply, kept in one thread per customer.
Ticket
A support or return request opened when a reply needs a person.

Six steps from install to live

The same sequence every Shopify connection follows, in order.

  1. Install from the workspace

Add the Shopify app from your Morasel workspace and pick the store to connect.

  2. Grant scopes

Approve the minimum scopes Shopify asks for: orders, customers, products/inventory, fulfillments.

  3. Connect the WhatsApp number

Choose which verified WhatsApp number sends Shopify messages.

  4. Map events to templates

Turn on the order events you want and choose the Meta-approved template for each.

  5. Test with one order

Place or pick a real order and confirm the mapped template arrives correctly.

  6. Activate

Turn the connection on; from then on, enabled events send automatically.

What the customer sees

A confirmed order, a question, and a human handoff — all on WhatsApp.

What the team sees

The order, the consent state and the conversation, in one place.

  • The order timeline sits beside every conversation, so an agent never asks the customer to repeat it
  • Per-event toggles for which order states send a message, and to which template
  • Consent state on the customer record, checked before any marketing send
  • A dedupe and suppression log showing which sends were blocked and why
  • Every reply that needs a person opens a ticket with its own SLA clock

Who's in control

People decide the actions that matter; automation only follows what is enabled.

  • Staff cancel orders in Shopify; automation never cancels an order on its own
  • Refunds are issued in Shopify — Morasel reports the refund, it does not create one
  • Consent is revocable by reply at any time, and takes effect immediately
  • Quiet hours hold non-urgent sends until a time the customer has agreed to

What this is not

Morasel is not a checkout and not a storefront — customers still buy on your Shopify store. It does not replace Shopify Flow; it reads Shopify's events and catalog and turns the ones you enable into WhatsApp messages. Every template it sends is approved by Meta first.

Connect your Shopify store

Install the app, map your first events to approved templates, and give your team the order beside every conversation.

Shopify integration questions

Does every Shopify event send the customer a message?

No. Only the order events you enable send a message, and each one is mapped to a Meta-approved template.

Does connecting Shopify give consent to send marketing?

No. Shopify customer data is never WhatsApp marketing consent. Marketing needs a recorded opt-in, and a customer can revoke it by replying at any time.

Does this support cash-on-delivery orders?

Yes. Eligible COD orders get a confirmation template with a reply option before they ship, and unconfirmed orders are flagged for staff.

Which Shopify plans does this work with?

Any Shopify plan that can install an app and grant the scopes the enabled workflows need.

What scopes does Morasel ask for?

Only what your enabled workflows use: read orders, read customers, read products/inventory and read fulfillments — nothing beyond that.

Can we connect more than one Shopify store?

Yes. Each store connects and is configured separately, with its own WhatsApp number and template map if you want.

What does running Shopify on WhatsApp cost?

Two lines on the invoice, and nothing extra for the Shopify connection itself. Shopify features run on your Morasel subscription — Core $49, Pro $99, Max $199, Enterprise on request. WhatsApp usage is billed separately from a prepaid wallet at Meta's official rates.
