Confirm, reschedule, or cancel — all from one WhatsApp reminder

A reminder arrives with Confirm, Reschedule, and Cancel buttons. Reschedule offers the next open slots for the same doctor and service; cancelling before the cut-off releases the slot immediately, struck through and paired with whatever rebooks it.

What breaks without a clear reschedule and cancel path

When a change of plans only reaches the clinic as a stray message, the front desk misses it, the slot sits held for no one, and the next patient who could have taken it never hears about it.

  • A patient texts "can't make it" and the message sits unread until after the appointment time
  • A cancelled slot stays blocked on the calendar because no one marked it released
  • A patient reschedules by phone, but the old slot and the new one look like two unrelated bookings
  • A late cancellation is treated the same as an early one, so staff never get a chance to fill it

What Morasel tracks on every appointment

One record per appointment, carried from the first booking through whatever happens to it.

Appointment status
Scheduled → Confirmed → Completed, or Cancelled at any point before the visit.
Cancellation cut-off
A configurable window, 60 minutes before the appointment by default, that decides what happens next.
Released slot
The time freed up the moment a cancellation clears before the cut-off.
Rebooked appointment
The new appointment created from a reschedule, paired to the one it replaced.
Reason
An optional note on why the patient rescheduled or cancelled.
Channel
How the change was made — a WhatsApp reply, the patient's my-bookings link, or a staff member.

From reminder to resolved appointment

Confirm, reschedule, and cancel all start from the same reminder message.

  1. Reminder with three buttons

A patient gets a reminder with Confirm, Reschedule, and Cancel.

  2. Reschedule shows the next slots

Choosing Reschedule offers the next available slots for the same doctor and service.

  3. Patient picks a new time

The patient taps a slot to rebook.

  4. Old slot released, new one paired

The original slot is released and shown struck through, and the rebooked appointment is linked to it.

  5. Cancel checks the cut-off

Cancelling before the cut-off releases the slot right away; after the cut-off, the request goes to staff instead.

  6. Waitlist gets the released slot

A released slot is offered to a suitable waiting patient before it's shown anywhere else.

A reschedule, start to finish

The patient never leaves the reminder thread to change their appointment.

What staff see

Every status change is visible immediately, with the old and new appointment linked.

  • A day view where a cancelled slot shows struck through and the rebooked appointment sits paired beside it
  • A queue of after-cut-off cancellation requests waiting on a staff decision
  • A log of who or what changed each appointment — the patient by WhatsApp reply, the patient by my-bookings link, or a staff member
  • A waitlist that's offered a released slot before it appears on the public booking page

What can be changed, and by whom

The cut-off is a clinic setting, not a fixed rule, and staff keep the final say.

  • Each clinic sets its own cancellation cut-off; 60 minutes before the appointment is the default
  • Staff can override a cancellation or reschedule request regardless of the cut-off
  • Every confirm, reschedule, and cancel is written to the audit log with the channel it came through

What this does not do

Morasel does not charge no-show fees and does not collect or process payment for appointments. Rescheduling and cancelling change the booking record only — any patient payment stays with the clinic's own payment provider.

Let one reminder handle confirm, reschedule, and cancel

Start free and give every appointment a status patients can change themselves — with the released slot offered to the waitlist before it goes anywhere else.

Reschedule and cancel questions

What happens when a patient replies "2" to a reminder?

Reschedule opens: Morasel replies with the next available slots for the same doctor and service, and the patient picks one to rebook.

Does cancelling always free up the slot right away?

Only before the cut-off. Cancelling before it releases the slot immediately; cancelling after it sends the request to staff instead of auto-releasing.

Can a clinic change the 60-minute cut-off?

Yes — the cut-off is set per clinic. 60 minutes before the appointment is the default, not a fixed rule.

How does the old and new appointment stay connected after a reschedule?

The released slot is shown struck through, and the rebooked appointment is paired to it, so staff see both sides of the change together.

Does Morasel charge a fee for a cancelled or missed appointment?

No — Morasel does not charge no-show fees and does not collect payment for appointments. Any patient payment stays with the clinic's own payment provider.
